Reading the fault codes from any module on the car is just a few button clicks away. If you prefer you can use the key board for almost all the features in VAG-COM (ie. enter 01 for engine, then press ‘F’ for fault codes. all buttons are labelled with their keyboard shortcuts)
Clearing the codes is just as easy. As you can see in the screen shot above, after displaying the codes the tool gives you several easy next steps.
All fault codes are displayed with their VAG number, there full text meaning, text elaboration (ie. short circuit to earth, voltage to high etc) and the VAG component code for the fault part. Ring up your VAG dealer and ask for the component code shown and they’ll know what you are talking about. You don’t have to try and describe it, that part code will be on their screen as well as yours!
